A businessman who runs a printing unit was shot at by unidentified persons in Gopal Nagar locality on Tibba Road on Friday afternoon. The victim, Dinesh Kumar Sharma, sustained a bullet injury to his left arm and is undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital, police said.
His condition is stated to be stable, the police said.
According to police, the incident occurred around 3 pm when Sharma, who runs a small printing business, stepped out of his house to visit a friend in the same area.
In his statement to the police, Sharma said he has no known enmity or dispute with anyone and could not identify who shot at him, as the incident happened suddenly.
Sub-inspector Balbir Singh said the robbery angle has been ruled out as the victim was not carrying cash at the time of the incident.
Police officials visited the spot and scanned CCTV cameras installed in the area, but no suspicious movement was captured. “An FIR has been registered against unidentified persons and further investigation is underway,” the SI said.
