The deceased Gurjant Singh was a resident of Ghaggar Sarai village in Patiala district, police said, adding that the accident took place near the Dhuri railway line bridge after a trailer reportedly climbed onto the divider and got stuck there.

ASI Dilbagh, the investigating officer in the case, said Gurjant Singh was driving his truck from the Doraha side towards Ferozepur when he allegedly failed to notice the trailer lodged on the divider due to poor visibility, following which his vehicle rammed into it. The collision severely damaged the front portion of the truck and Gurjant died on the spot, he added.

Police said proceedings under relevant sections would be initiated after recording the statements of the deceased’s family members following the postmortem.
