According to officials aware of the development, the governor has warned girls’ hostel staff after students showed him pictures and videos highlighting substandard food and unhygienic conditions.

Addressing faculty members at MDU’s faculty house, the governor said that students are the future of the nation and their concerns should be addressed promptly. He also appreciated the university for its modern library and faculty research initiatives.

On Monday, a delegation of INSO students urged the governor to revoke the ban on student body elections in colleges and universities across the state. Another delegation, led by Vikram Singh Dumolia, was stopped from meeting Ghosh, but they submitted a memorandum demanding a vigilance inquiry of vice-chancellor Rajbir Singh’s tenure, which ends in February next year.
