A 24-year-old hairdresser succumbed to his injuries ten days following a road accident near Sohana Chowk in Mohali, prompting police to register a case against the unidentified driver of the offending car.
The deceased, Happy Khan, a resident of Ghurana village was riding his motorcycle towards Sohana around 9.30 am on June 24 to open his salon when he was allegedly hit by a car.
According to his brother-in-law, Jagseer Khan, who was accompanying him on another motorcycle, a car bearing registration number PB-11-BF-9909 allegedly hit Happy Khan’s motorcycle near Sohana Chowk.
Jagseer Khan told police that he rushed to help the injured after the collision. While bystanders gathered at the spot, the driver briefly stopped before fleeing with the vehicle.
Happy Khan was taken to PGIMER, Chandigarh, where he remained under treatment. He succumbed to his injuries on Monday.
Following his death, Sohana police registered an FIR against the unidentified driver under Sections 281 (rash driving), 106(1) (causing death by negligence) and 324(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

{{/usCountry}}A 32-year-old man died after a Thar SUV allegedly hit him while he was walking home from a community centre in Phase 11 on Monday night. The deceased, Rakesh, a resident of Amb Sahib Colony, was the sole breadwinner of his family, police said.
According to police, Rakesh had attended a function at the community centre and was returning home on foot when the accident occurred. The Thar driver took the injured man to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32, Chandigarh, where he died during treatment in the early hours of Tuesday.
Rakesh earned a living by operating a food cart and supported his wife and five daughters through his income. Officials said the body has been sent for postmortem and an FIR will be registered on the complaint of the family.
