The incident took place on August 6 around 1.15 pm when a man reached her house in Sector 4 and told her that he was a friend of her son who lives in Australia.

The man told her that they worked together and were very close. He further said that he was getting married soon and wanted to gift his would-be wife gold bangles. He told her that her son had advised him to buy gold bangles similar to the ones she owned.

To gain the victim’s trust further, the accused pretended to ring up her son but later said he must be sleeping.

Believing his claims to be true, the woman took out her gold bangles from her cupboard and showed him. The accused allegedly examined the bangles and told her that they were of old design and returned it. She then kept it back in her cupboard and went to the kitchen to prepare tea. Her husband was also at home but sleeping at the time.
