The municipal corporation (MC) faces intense criticism from the Citizens’ Welfare Association (CWA) for failing to refund the excess of garbage collection charges paid by residents. After garbage fee waivers, the residents, who have already cleared their dues for 2023-24, 2024-25, and now 2025-26, are still awaiting refund. The CWA alleges this unfairly penalises compliant residents.

The association demanded immediate answers from the MC and Haryana government regarding the processing of refunds for the previous years and the adjustment of 2025-26 deposits. CWA president SK Nayar and other members have appealed to chief minister Nayab Singh Saini and top officials to issue instructions to refund the total “excess amount deposited” to residents via adjustments in their next utility bills.
