Sangrur Congress chief Jagdev Gaga booked for sexual offence complaint; investigation underway

Police said the case was registered on Tuesday under Section 69 of the BNS, while an investigation is underway and the accused has not been arrested.

District Congress chief Jagdev Gaga has been booked for a sexual offence on the complaint of a woman.

Sunam deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Harsimran Singh said the case was registered on Tuesday. Refusing more details into the case, he said investigation was on. (PTI)

A senior official confirmed that the first information report was registered against Jagdev Singh Gaga under Section (69) (sexual intercourse by employing deceitful means, etc.) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Sunam police station.

Sunam deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Harsimran Singh said the case was registered on Tuesday. Refusing more details into the case, he said investigation was on.

While Gaga, who is also national general secretary of the Indian National Youth Congress, has been booked, his arrest is pending.

A Dalit leader, Gaga is said to be close to former Sangrur MLA Vijay Inder Singla. Gaga and Singla could not be contacted for a response.
