DSP Satvir Singh said four members of the gang had been arrested. They were identified as Harshdeep Singh, alias Kaka, who allegedly operated in Nihang attire; Sahil, Pardeep Singh and Rohit Sharma, all residents of Barnala.

The DSP said police formed multiple teams after two back-to-back incidents of violent snatching were reported in the city. First councillor Neeta was attacked on May 12, then another FIR was registered after a youth was targeted at Kachheri Chowk. The gang assaulted the victim, before fleeing with his cash. The youth suffered serious wrist injuries and was admitted to AIIMS Bathinda for treatment.

The accused were produced in court and sent to police custody. Further investigation is underway, officials said.
