A 2014-batch IAS officer Sakshi Sawhney on Friday assumed charge as the chief administrator of the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA). She previously served as the deputy commissioner of Amritsar.
Sawhney replaces Vishesh Sarangal, a 2013-batch IAS officer, who had taken over the post in February this year.
Soon after taking charge, Sawhney held brief meetings with officials from various wings, including policy, engineering, estate office, and finance, to review their functioning. She urged all officers to uphold the state government’s vision of transparent and efficient governance and to ensure timely delivery of public services.
“Considering that GMADA plays a crucial role in the development of the city and its surrounding areas, the focus will be on ensuring that all ongoing projects are completed within designated timelines,” she said.
Sawhney earned widespread appreciation for her effective handling of flood relief operations in Amritsar during August–September this year. Earlier, in 2023, she had led similar efforts in Patiala during the floods, where her dedication and leadership were widely lauded by residents.
