A local finance company manager was killed after his car collided with a truck on the national highway near Khanna on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Manit Sharma. Sharma was returning from PGI Chandigarh, where he had visited his younger brother, when the accident took place. Police said the impact of the collision was severe, completely mangling the car and killing Sharma on the spot.
Eyewitnesses said that the truck driver fled the scene after the mishap, leaving behind the vehicle’s number plate, which the police have seized as evidence.
A team from Sadar police station reached the site, cleared the wreckage from the highway and sent Sharma’s body to the civil hospital for post-mortem.
A case has been registered against the unidentified truck driver. Authorities are examining CCTV footage from the highway and nearby areas to identify the truck and determine the cause of the collision.
Family friends, including Sushil Garg, Ram Krishan, and Rajesh Kumar, said Sharma had left Chandigarh after checking on his brother’s health. “We received the news about the accident on the way. The family is devastated,” they said.
Sharma is survived by his wife and two young children.
