29-year-old jumps to death in Punjabi Bagh

A 29-year-old woman died by suicide after jumping from a flyover in Delhi; no note was found. Her family reported she had been unwell recently.

NEW DELHI: A 29-year-old woman allegedly died by suicide after jumping from a flyover near Britania Chowk in west Delhi’s Punjabi Bagh on Thursday. No suicide note has been recovered, police said.

Police said a PCR call regarding the incident was received at Punjabi Bagh police station, following which a team reached the spot. With the help of locals, the woman was taken to Acharya Shree Bhikshu Hospital in Moti Nagar.

“The woman was admitted in an injured condition and was unable to speak. The team identified her as a resident of Shakurpur and informed her family,” said a senior police officer.

Police said the woman got married in 2019 and had two children. Her husband works with a private company as a medical representative.

An investigator said, “Her family informed that she had not been keeping well for around a week. She left her home around 1pm on Thursday without informing her family and later reached the flyover near Britania Chowk.”

“Preliminary inquiry suggests that the woman died by suicide. She did not inform anyone and did not leave a note,” the officer said. Investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances that led to the incident, they added.
