The Delhi government has reclassified digital printing on flex, vinyl and PVC as a “green” activity, aligning its classification norms with central guidelines to ease compliance for the sector, officials said on Thursday.

Officials said the Delhi Pollution Control Committee’s (DPCC) classifications are now in line with the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) guidelines and is aimed at rationalising categories to reward low-risk, non-polluting industries.
They added that the decision reflects the government’s attempt to address pollution concerns while supporting industrial activity and improving ease of doing business.
Delhi environment and industries minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said the step follows last year’s relaxation of the consent to operate (CTO) timeline for green category industries.
“This is another big move towards ease of doing business. For entrepreneurs in Delhi’s printing sector, aligning with CPCB’s scientific categorisation fosters responsible growth without compromising our war on pollution,” he said, thanking chief minister Rekha Gupta for her support.
Sirsa said the government has adopted a data-driven approach to reclassify industries based on pollution risk. Digital printing now joins over 125 sectors in the green category, including apparel, aluminium products, ayurvedic units, furniture, packaging, optical goods, toys and cold storage.
