New Delhi: Police have arrested a man accused of raping a 22-year-old woman at hotels in northwest Delhi on two separate occasions, an officer said on Sunday.

Police said they arrested him after the survivor filed a complaint last Sunday at Mukherjee Nagar police station. A rape case was registered, and the accused was produced to a local court, which remanded him to judicial custody.

The woman, a makeup artist, said she met the accused last August through social media as he was in the same profession and used to post makeup-related videos. They both became friends. In July, she met him at a hotel in the Mukherjee Nagar area, where he offered a spiked soft drink and allegedly raped her, the woman said.

The survivor said the accused persuaded her not to file a police complaint and promised to marry her.

The accused tricked her again into going to a hotel in August in the GTB Nagar area, where he again raped her, police said. However, the woman sustained injuries during the sexual assault, and the accused fled from the hotel.

Following the assault, the survivor approached the police and registered a complaint.
