The tender was approved by the World Bank in June, and after being vetted by the GMRL and Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation Limited (HMRTC), has now been sent to the state government for approval.

“The tender is expected to be approved soon,” said the GMRL official.

The tender covers construction of the railway track and stations, while signalling, electrical and design works have been excluded from its scope. The GMRL has also approached a German development bank for additional funding, as the estimated cost for the metro project has increased to more than 10,000 crore from 5,452 crore, added officials.

The second phase will cover 13km and include 14 metro stations at Sector 7, Sector 4, Sector 5, Ashok Vihar, Sector 3, Bajghera Road, Palam Vihar Extension, Palam Vihar, Sector 23A, Sector 22, Udyog Vihar Phase 4, Udyog Vihar Phase 5 and Cyber City, besides a station on the spur towards Gurugram railway station.
