39-year-old man kills wife, 4 children in Gurugram, then attempts suicide

The man allegedly poisoned his wife and children. Then he slit his wrist and was also found lying at the spot in a pool of blood.

A 39-year-old man killed his wife and four children before attempting suicide in Wazirpur village in Gurugram late on Saturday, police officers said. The man was admitted to a government hospital in the city and is critical, they said.

The police said that according to an initial probe, the man allegedly poisoned his 35-year-old wife, three daughters – aged 14, 12 and 10 – and eight-year-old son.

“We have informed the woman’s family and the bodies are being sent for a post-mortem examination… Preliminary investigations indicate that the man poisoned all five and slit his wrist using a knife,” said Gurugram police spokesperson Sandeep Turan.

He said the family was from Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh and lived in a rented house in Wazirpur for several years. “The man ran a salon in the area,” said Turan.

He will be quizzed after he recovers, an investigator said.
