Gurugram recorded three fresh dengue cases on Saturday, taking the district’s tally to 29 this season, according to the health department’s latest bulletin. Officials said the monsoon and stagnant water in low-lying areas could be contributing to the rise, prompting stepped-up surveillance and fever surveys.
The department collected 357 dengue samples on Saturday, taking the year’s total to 6,848. No dengue-related death has been reported so far.
Rapid fever mass survey teams covered 10,267 houses on Saturday, taking the cumulative number surveyed this year to over 1.01 million. Teams also prepared 835 blood slides for malaria surveillance. Four malaria cases have been reported this year.
“Residents should prevent water from accumulating in and around their homes and to seek medical attention if they develop symptoms such as persistent fever, headache or body ache,” a senior health official said.
Civic authorities have issued 1,485 notices under Section 214 of the Haryana Municipal Corporation Act, 1973, to check mosquito breeding. Officials urged residents to check coolers, flower pots, roof corners and other water-collection points.
Residents in Sector 9A, Sector 10, Udyog Vihar, MG Road and Sadar Bazar have reported stagnant water for over a week. “The water in the sector has been stagnant for over a week, and the situation is getting worse. We have repeatedly approached the authorities, but no pumps or tankers have been sent,” said Suraj Bhola, General Secretary of the RWA of Sector 9A.
