Indore: 8 students of government medical college booked for ragging

Police claimed the senior medical students used to call the junior students at their rented flats where they used to force them to do obscene acts with classmates

As many as eight unidentified senior medical students of Mahatma Gandhi Medical College, Indore, were booked for assaulting, ragging and forcing first-year students for doing obscene acts, said police on Tuesday.

The FIR was registered at Sanyogitaganj police station on Monday evening by an anti-ragging committee of MGM Medical College.

“The senior medical students used to call the junior students at their rented flats where they used to force them to do obscene acts with classmates and pass obscene comments on female students. The juniors were asked to slap each other. The senior students used to torture them by asking them to do sit-ups. They used to mentally harass them”, the complaint filed stated.

Police have started an investigation and are trying to identify the senior medical students.

Sanyuktaganj police station in charge Tehzeeb Qazi said, “We have filed a complaint and started investigation. We are trying to identify the students. The FIR has been registered under section 294 (obscene comments), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and under Anti-Ragging Act.”
