Kareli Police here have lodged an FIR against 11 named, including henchmen of slain gangster-politician Atiq Ahmed, and some unidentified people for allegedly trying to grab a plot of land in Karelabagh area of the district. The case was registered on the complaint of a lawyer on Wednesday night and further investigation was in progress, police said.

In his complaint to the police, Allahabad hight court lawyer Mohd Umar Khan has named Atiq Ahmed’s henchmen Kammu, Jabir, Belal, Badlu Qamar, along with Abdul Haseeb Khan, Shadman, Noor Hamza, Afaq, Farhat Shaheen, Khursheed, Shamsher and some unidentified people. The lawyer claimed that he purchased a plot in Karelabagh in 2015. However, the accused were now trying to grab his plot through forged documents, he alleged.
They were exerting pressure on him to give half of the plot to them. They also issued life threats to him if he made any complaint against them, the lawyer alleged in his complaint. The lawyer further said investigation should also be carried out to know about the role of those policemen, revenue employees and land sharks who were allegedly helping the accused in grabbing the land.
Station house officer, Kareli police station, Ramashray Yadav confirmed that the FIR had been registered against the accused for fraud, issuing threats and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. Action will be taken against them following the investigation, he added.
