A BJP leader was arrested for sharing an inflammatory post on Twitter on Prophet Mohammad. A case was lodged against Harshit Srivastava, whose Twitter bio read as the BJP's youth head of Kanpur, with the Colonelgunj Police. Joint CP Anand Prakash Tiwari confirmed the arrest.

The tweet, a photoshot now stands deleted.
The arrest came days after violence clashes broke out in the city over controversial remarks on the Prophet made by now-axed BJP leader Nupur Sharma on national television. The alleged controversial remarks have triggered a massive diplomatic fallout with several nations raising the issue with India.
The clashes that had led to injuries of several people took place when President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief minister Yogi Adityanath were in town.
At least 50 people have so far been arrested in connection with the clashes, while another 10 have been detained for questioning. Besides, a 16-year-old boy walked into the Colonelganj police station and surrendered after his picture appeared on posters put up by police.
