Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday rejected BSP chief Mayawati’s allegation that the SP had a history of breaking alliances, saying his party “never breaks coalitions” and that its existing partnership for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections remained strong.

At a press conference here at the SP’s state headquarters, Yadav said, “The Samajwadi Party never breaks alliances. When we walk together, we fulfil our commitment. Socialists have always stood by their partners.”
Mayawati, in a multi-point post on X earlier in the day, criticised Yadav’s recent “chavanni se rupaya” remark against former ally Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) and its leader Jayant Chaudhary. She called the remark “completely improper, indecent and highly shameful.” She also accused the SP of using alliances for its own benefit before abandoning former partners.
Responding to the allegations, Yadav said the SP and its allies were making “double preparations” to contest all 403 assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh. “The government is of the BJP; the fight is against the BJP. Those parties trying to encircle the Samajwadi Party should instead take on the BJP,” he said.
Yadav also criticised the BJP government over inflation, primary education and alleged police excesses against farmers in Meerut. He announced that the SP would issue a separate manifesto for persons with disabilities and defended the party’s earlier commitment of ₹40,000 to women.
