MUMBAI: Three men were arrested after the RCF police, acting on a tip-off, allegedly caught them dumping construction debris behind Cubic Mall in Chembur. Police seized a dumper loaded with debris and an excavator from the spot and said the illegal dumping had allegedly been going on for about a month.

The accused were identified as Hasan Abbas Jafar Mehdi Sayyed, 46, from Baiganwadi, Govandi; dumper driver Ashish Supture, 36, from Chembur; and excavator operator Gopal Maruti Jadhav, 21, from Bhiwandi.
Police said constable Sanket Dhumal of the RCF police station’s detection branch received a tip-off about construction debris being dumped behind the mall. When he reached the spot with other personnel, they found a dumper full of debris and an excavator.
Police said the three accused present at the site told investigators they worked for Amrit Gajre, who had allegedly been dumping debris there for over a month.
The men also told police that the land belonged to Subrot Acharya. When asked to produce permissions required from the BMC and police for dumping construction debris, they allegedly failed to provide any valid documents, police said.
