Armed robbers loot jewellery store in Dahanu, fire shots

Mumbai: Three armed robbers looted a jewellery store in Dahanu on Monday evening, firing two rounds before fleeing the scene, police said.

The robbery took place around 4:30 pm at Lakshmi Jewellers on Irani Road. Police said the three men arrived on a motorcycle, entered the store, threatened the staff at gunpoint and fled with gold and silver jewellery and cash.

The accused allegedly fired two shots while escaping. No one was injured in the incident, police said.

After receiving information from nearby shopkeepers, the Dahanu police rushed to the spot and launched a search. Although officers attempted to chase the suspects, they managed to escape.

Police have set up checkpoints at exit points across Dahanu and launched a manhunt. A case of robbery has been registered.

“We are recording the statements of the shop owner and employees, and examining CCTV footage to identify the accused,” a police officer said.
