Speed boat cruiser catches fire off Mandwa jetty, 2 crew members injured

Assistant police inspector Govind Patil from Mandwa police station said when he and his team were trying to get near the burning boat, they learnt that it had a 200-litre petrol tank which could explode and engulf several other boats in the vicinity

Scheme granting extra FSI for reserved land extended by 5 yrs

The Urban Development department in Mumbai has extended provisions of the Development Control Promotion Regulations (DCPR) 2034, allowing developers to get additional floor space index (FSI) by handing over reserved land to the BMC or appropriate authority for public purposes. The extension is for three years and comes in response to requests from the real estate industry due to delays caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. The provisions will now be valid until August 20, 2026.

NGT directs state urban dept to develop action plan for safe disposal of used condom

The National Green Tribunal has directed the state urban department in Pune to create a plan for the proper disposal of used condoms following a petition by law students. The students raised concerns about the burning of non-biodegradable waste by sanitation workers, including used condoms, which causes pollution and spreads infectious diseases. The tribunal has given the department six months to submit an action plan. Condom manufacturers have been urged to provide leak-proof pouches for the disposal of used condoms.

ED cracks down on 2,188 crore money laundering case, city builders among accused

A special court in Mumbai has initiated money laundering proceedings against seven individuals, including two city builders, in a case involving alleged illegal foreign remittances of INR2,188.32 crore ($299m). The Enforcement Directorate filed a supplementary charge-sheet in relation to the case, which is based on an FIR registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation in May 2017. The case involves the creation of multiple entities and the use of fake bills of entries for remittances abroad. The accused have been summoned to attend court on 12 December.
