Navi Mumbai: A 35-year-old man was killed and five others were injured after a speeding car rammed multiple vehicles before crashing into a roadside food stall in Taloja on Tuesday afternoon. The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene.

The accident occurred around noon in Sector 9 of Taloja Phase I. The car was allegedly being driven at high speed when the driver lost control, police said.
“The car first rammed into a two-wheeler, an autorickshaw and a tempo before crashing into a food stall beside the footpath. The impact was so severe that the motorcycle landed on top of the tempo, trapping the rider underneath,” said a local resident. “People at the spot lifted the vehicle to rescue him. An auto also toppled sideways and another motorcycle was damaged,” he added.
The deceased was identified as Nadeem Azam Khan, 35, who police said was returning from a gym when the accident occurred. He died on the spot. Five others were injured, two of them critically.
The injured were identified as Sharafuddin Shakir Ali, 43, a metal refinery employee, who suffered a blunt injury to his left leg; Ramdulare Ramsahay Gupta, 37, a security guard, who sustained burn injuries to his back, cheek and neck; Sunny Mahendra Nishad, 33, who suffered head, shoulder and back injuries; Mohammad Gulfaraz Md. Naseem Sheikh, 28, a tempo driver, who suffered a minor head injury and abdominal injuries; and a 17-year-old student, Vighnesh Santosh Pansare, who sustained a fracture to his right shin.

{{/usCountry}}All the injured were admitted to MGM Hospital in Kamothe, while Khan’s body was sent to the sub-district hospital for post-mortem examination.
Police have launched a search for the driver, who fled after abandoning the vehicle.
“Preliminary findings suggest the car was being driven by a 23-year-old man whose identity is yet to be confirmed. The vehicle is registered in the name of Shabbir Patel,” said police inspector Sagar Nikam.
