MUMBAI Technical glitch was reported on the third day of operations of the newly-inaugurated Metro corridor on Monday, making it three days in a row.

The glitch was reported in a train that was heading to Aarey from the Magathane station. The train was withdrawn from service, which further resulted in delays in the operations. As many as 19,795 commuters availed the Metro on the third day of operations.

The Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Limited (MMMOCL), an undertaking of Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), updated the details of the disruption on Twitter.

“Due to technical error, a train at Magathane towards Aarey has been withdrawn from service. Commuters have been accommodated in the next train. Regret the inconvenience,” tweeted @MMMOCL_Official.

Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) commissioner SVR Srinivas said that the minor glitches will be resolved in the next 15 days. “There are minor glitches that will be resolved soon,” he said.

Similar technical issues were reported on Saturday and Sunday, which led to delays and cancellations. The disruptions in the operations are likely due to software issues in the signalling system.

“The systems are new and there have been some software sync issues in the signalling system. We are working continuously to ensure the issues are fixed,” said a senior MMRDA official.
