THANE: A 21-year-old worker died after falling from a crane lift while carrying out repair work at the ordnance factory in Ambernath on Monday.

The deceased, identified as Vasim Khan, was engaged in repair work involving the installation of tin sheets at the factory premises when the accident took place. According to the police, Khan was fixing a safety net while working from a crane lift when he apparently lost balance and fell from the elevated platform.
“He fell from the lift attached to the crane during the repair work,” said a police officer. Khan suffered grievous injuries in the fall and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
The police have registered an accidental death report (ADR) and launched an investigation into the incident.
