The district administration has stepped up efforts to stabilise the situation in Noida’s industrial areas following recent labour unrest and district administration officials met with contractors and labour agencies on Tuesday.

District magistrate Medha Roopam said, “We have already done multiple meetings with the industries and workers. Today, we focused on the contractors and labour agencies.”

According to the administration, there are around 600 manpower agencies operating across industrial units in the district, some of which manage large workforces. “Some agencies handle 3,000 to 4,000 workers. We have personally briefed them,” she said. Representatives of around 35 biggest manpower companies attended the meeting.

In a strong message, the administration warned contractors of strict action in case of any involvement of workers linked to them in acts of unrest or damage to property.

“They have been clearly told that they will also be held accountable for any disruptive or damaging behaviour by workers associated with them. Their licences can be cancelled and they may be blacklisted,” the DM said.
