Man killed after temporary lift crashes at under-construction building in Noida

In a tragic incident, a 28-year-old service engineer of a private company was killed after a temporary lift installed at an under construction building in Sector 150, Noida.

According to police, the deceased, a resident of Firozabad, fell from the 25th floor of the building while trying to de-install the temporary lift at around 4:15 pm on Monday.

Dinesh Kumar Singh, additional deputy commissioner of police, said, “The service engineer of the private firm that had installed the temporary lift at the site was called by the builder firm on Monday to de-install the lift as a permanent full-service proper lift inside the building had been installed by the builder. During the process, the supporting system could not bear the load of the lift, which crashed on the ground and Rathore fell from the height of 25th floor”.

Construction workers present at the spot immediately informed the police and took the engineer to Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) hospital where the person was declared dead on arrival, said officials.

“The family members of the deceased were informed. Once the complaint is received, an FIR will be registered against those responsible for the death. The body has been sent for a post-mortem and further investigation is underway,” said Singh.

Meanwhile, taking cognisance of the matter, police commissioner Laxmi Singh ordered that an FIR be lodged in the case and those responsible for the incident be arrested.

According to an official, the temporary lift was installed for a one-year period at the site and after the tenure completion it was being removed by the service provider company.
