In a memorandum submitted to MLA Pankaj Singh on Wednesday, residents of Sector 36 highlighted various civic issues, with frequent power outages as their primary concern.

According to residents, electricity supply remains disrupted for at least two hours every day, with the situation worsening during rainfall.

The residents also raised issues of tree pruning, encroachments, and drainage. Singh, who visited the sector assured them that the issues would be taken up with the concerned departments.

“This is one of the oldest sectors in Noida, and we have worked hard to keep it clean and well maintained. However, electricity remains our biggest concern. We request that all the transformers in the sector be replaced,” said Anita (single name), president of the Sector 36 RWA.

Puja Bharwi, who has lived in the sector for the past 27 years, said the uncertainty over power supply has become a constant source of anxiety.

“Electricity is a big issue. It feels like we are living in constant fear of power cuts. The situation becomes even worse during this humid weather,” she said.

“We have to keep calling officials and visit the power station to get the issue resolved. Our RWA members often work through the night to ensure electricity is restored,” he said.

MLA Singh, addressing the residents, said the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) has acknowledged the issues and work is underway to address them.

“UPPCL engineers have accepted that there are issues with the electricity network, and they are replacing power lines. As for weather-related outages, a 1,200 crore modernisation scheme has been introduced to strengthen Noida’s power infrastructure. A new substation is being made, of which work on 12-13 stations have been completed. “ he said.

“For Sector 36, I will pursue the matter and ensure that the power line here is replaced. I will also ask the department to check the old transformers for repairs,” he added.

“The main issue in Sector 36 is that a single 11kV power line runs across a large part of the sector, making the supply vulnerable to disruptions. We have started work on a new 11kV line, and once it is completed, the load will be distributed between two lines. This will improve reliability and significantly reduce power outages.” said Mohit Dixit, executive engineer, UPPCL.

Power disruptions have remained a recurring concern across several sectors in Noida in recent months, with residents of sectors 41, 11 and 43 also reporting prolonged outages and voltage fluctuations.
