KR Arya, range officer in Ramnagar forest division said, “Forest patrolling staff spotted the carcass at reserve forests near Paniyali village on Sunday evening”.

“The carcass of the tigress is likely to be two or three days old. Injury marks were found on its body. So, it seems, the tigress likely died due to infighting with another big cat. The actual cause of death will be ascertained after the post-mortem report is received,” he said.

He said the tigress was eight years old.
