New Delhi: At least six people, including Delhi Aam Aadmi Party MLA Anil Jha and Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Abhay Patil, suffered injuries in a road crash near the PWD headquarters on Vikas Marg near ITO in central Delhi on Sunday night, police said.

Police said the crash occurred after a hatchback hit the road divider, cut through the fence and reached the opposite carriageway, where it crashed into an SUV in which the two legislators were travelling.
Deputy commissioner of police (central) Rohit Ranbir Singh said that around 9.30pm, the IP Estate police station received a call regarding a road crash on Vikas Marg.
A police team reached the spot and found two cars bearing Delhi registration numbers damaged.
“As per the preliminary inquiry, the hatchback was being driven by Ashutosh Pandey, a 32-year-old resident of Delhi’s Arya Nagar, who was travelling towards ITO from Laxmi Nagar along with his wife and two minor children. Near the PWD Office, the car hit the divider and, after crossing the railing, collided with the SUV coming from ITO towards Laxmi Nagar,” said Singh.
“All people sustained minor injuries and were shifted to Lok Nayak Hospital for treatment. They are in stable condition. Police removed both vehicles from the roadway. A probe is underway,” the DCP added.
