In a move to enhance passenger convenience and reduce overcrowding, the Pune railway station administration has initiated the development of a new, spacious waiting area measuring 3,600 square feet.

Hemant Kumar Behera, spokesperson, Pune railway division, said, “We have observed that due to the high number of daily commuters, the station often experiences crowding. To address this, we are developing a 3,600-square-foot waiting area that will help passengers rest comfortably while waiting for trains. The project will be completed soon, and passengers will benefit from the improved space.”
The authorities have also said that the waiting area will include clean seating arrangements, proper ventilation, and sufficient lighting.
Additionally, information boards and guidance signs will be installed for easy navigation. Currently, Pune station handles around two lakh passengers every day.
