Chandan Nagar police book two builders for cheating homebuyers
Despite receiving the full payment and executing registered agreements the developers allegedly failed to provide several amenities and facilities promised in the sale agreements
The Chandan Nagar police have booked two real estate developers for allegedly cheating 110 homebuyers at a residential project in Kharadi. The developers have been accused of failing to provide the promised lifestyle amenities, carrying out unauthorised construction of two additional floors, and failing to complete the mandatory legal handover formalities.
Assistant police inspector Ganesh Jagdale, investigating officer in the case, said, “A case has been lodged based on the complaint received from the flat owner. The allegations include cheating, breach of trust, criminal intimidation and unauthorised construction. We are currently investigating the matter and verifying the allegations.”
The case was registered on August 22, following a complaint by flat owner Umesh Sandipan Eye (42), a resident of the project. The complainant told police that he had purchased flat A-101 in the Lotus Court housing society on Old Mundhwa-Kharadi Road for ₹80.86 lakh, including parking.

The Chandan Nagar police have registered a case under Sections 420 (cheating), 406 (criminal breach of trust), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Section 7 of the Maharashtra Ownership of Flats Act (MOFA).
