Woman forced to do 150 sit-ups by in-laws, case registered in Pune

According to Dehu Road police, the victim was assaulted by her husband and in-laws from December 2021 over petty issues

The Pimpri-Chinchwad police have registered a case against five individuals of a family for allegedly harassing and forcing a woman to do 150 sit-ups, said police officials.

Accused have been identified as Javed Mubarak Mulla, Mubarak Mulla, Mohsin Mubarak Mulla, and two other women all residents of Adarsh Nagar, Dehu Road area.

According to Dehu Road police, the victim was assaulted by her husband and in-laws from December 2021 over petty issues. The woman was subjected to physical and mental abuse. Her husband and in-laws allegedly threatened her into silence, and even made her do 150 sit-ups.

The woman alleged that accused Javed and his family tried to kill her by choking her. In her complaint, she further alleged that, accused Mubarak forced her to do 150 sit-ups last week.

The victim subsequently filed a complaint against her husband and in-laws. The police have registered a case under sections 307 (attempt to murder), 498 (a) (cruelty by husband and in-laws), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.
