Maha signs pact with Germany to open career paths for nursing students

The Maharashtra government signed an agreement with the German state of Baden-Wurttemberg on December 6 to strengthen cooperation in the nursing sector. The pact aims to develop a trained nursing workforce aligned with international standards.

Institutions from both states, including nursing colleges, universities, and training centres, will work together on student and faculty exchange programmes, joint training, study tours, and research partnerships.

The agreement was signed in the presence of Maharashtra’s minister of state for medical education Madhuri Misal and Baden-Wurttemberg’s minister for social affairs, health and integration Manfred Lucha.

Speaking on the occasion, Misal said that “under this partnership, language training, advanced skill development, smoother certification processes, and special initiatives for the dignity and protection of nurses employed in Germany will be implemented”.

Lucha said, “This collaboration will enable young professionals to access global career opportunities, while helping build a more competent and well-trained workforce in the healthcare sector.”
