Pune: A murder suspect fled custody after allegedly pushing and injuring a police constable while being taken to a site for verification and panchanama in Vadgaon Budruk area on Wednesday evening. The absconding accused has been identified as Aniket Mahesh Waghmare, 26, of Hingne Khurd, Pune, police officials said on Thursday.
Waghmare was in custody in connection with the murder of 22-year-old Aditya Ganesh Bhagat, a resident of Bhosari, who was allegedly killed at Tamhini Ghat during a trip with friends.
Waghmare and another accused, Tushar alias Sonya Sharad Patole, 24, of Karvenagar, had been arrested by Baner police and handed over to the Mangaon counterpart for further investigation. While police were conducting the panchnama of a house in Hingne Khurd in Vadgaon Budruk at around 6:30 pm, Waghmare managed to injure constable Shrikant Kiravale, 29, and escaped.
Sinhagad Road Police Station has filed a case against Waghmare and teams headed by inspector Ulhas Kadam are formed to nab the fugitive.
