The incident occurred near the Gahunje stretch of the expressway, where the vehicle, reportedly travelling at high speed, lost control and rammed into the truck parked on the roadside. The force of the impact left the front section of the Mercedes severely damaged, trapping the occupants briefly inside the wreckage.

Police and emergency responders rushed to the scene following calls from passing motorists. All four occupants of the Mercedes were extricated from the mangled remains and taken to a private hospital near Somatane Phata, where they are undergoing treatment. Authorities described their condition as serious but stable.

A senior highway police officer said initial assessments suggest overspeeding as a likely cause of the crash. “We are examining whether appropriate safety measures, including warning signage for the parked container, were in place,” he said.

Traffic on the busy expressway was briefly disrupted following the accident, with highway patrol units managing the scene and facilitating the movement of vehicles.
