PUNE: Pune city police’s Crime Branch Unit 5 on Saturday arrested two men wanted for nearly two years in connection with an armed robbery case registered at Deccan police station, police said.

The accused were identified as Shahrukh Kadir Khan Pathan (28) and Farukh Kadir Khan Pathan (26), both residents of Ajintha taluka in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district. They were arrested from Jangjala village in the district.
According to police, the two were among six suspects allegedly preparing to commit an armed robbery in the Abhinav Road area under the Deccan police station limits on October 24, 2024. A beat marshal who spotted the group attempted to stop them.
The suspects allegedly attacked the marshal with a sharp weapon, injuring him. The marshal then fired two rounds in their direction. A case was subsequently registered at Deccan police station under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Arms Act and Maharashtra Police Act.
Police launched a search for the suspects, but the two remained difficult to trace as they were reportedly staying in a remote, hilly and forested area.

{{/usCountry}}On August 22, Police Inspector Wahid Pathan of Crime Branch Unit 5 received information about their whereabouts. Acting on the instructions of senior officers, a team travelled to Jangjala village and, with the assistance of local police, laid a trap in the difficult-to-access area and arrested the two, police said.
The accused were handed over for further legal action in connection with the case registered at Deccan police station.
