Your spare moments are very similar to uncut diamonds

In Leisure, Welsh poet WH Davies wrote: “What is this life, if full of care, we have no time to stand and stare?” Certainly, today leisure has become a rare commodity.

We are all bogged down with work and responsibilities. “Where is the time?’ How often we have heard people remark thus, almost in exasperation! However, while long leisure hours might be difficult to come by, we do have spare moments. Unfortunately, we remain too occupied with the daily grind and, not even aware of these precious moments, we let them pass.

So the first thing to do is to acknowledge the presence of spare moments and next comes approaching these ‘moments’ with a purpose — the same way as we plan and execute a leisure trip. If seized, our spare moments have as much power to rejuvenate our exhausted selves as a holiday to a distant land.

These spare moments may appear frivolous in nature, but they do go a long way in de-stressing us. They make us temporarily wander from the important tasks at hand, but only to come back a little later with renewed vigour and vitality.

One’s focus should be on utilising our spare moments in a way which would perk us up to face the day’s challenges with gusto.

So polish these ‘uncut diamonds’ and let your life ‘sparkle’.
