Akhtar went to the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore to submit his reply to the notice sent by Zakir Khan, the director of cricket operations in the board.

"We have not seen the reply as yet so we don't know what Shoaib's viewpoint is. But he has met the deadline for submitting his reply," Saleem Altaf, the chief operating officer of the board, said.

Zakir showcaused Akhtar for appearing on a television show without permission of the board. The showcause charged Akhtar that he violated his contract with the PCB by criticising the team management in his interview.

Sources in the board said Akhtar mentioned in his reply that he didn't know he was violating his central contract by appearing on the television show as other players were also doing such interviews.

The fast bowler had said in the interview that he was fit to play in the Twenty20 World Cup as he had recovered from the skin infection.
