As chairman of the selection committee, Kris Srikkanth is no stranger to making choices. His latest targets, however, have nothing to fear.
On Monday Srikkanth formally launched an ambitious e-learning venture he hoped would provide a level-playing field for youngsters in the country to get ahead in life and their chosen professions.
The language he has chosen is, well, cricket. In India, where cricket is a religion, the use of cricketing analogy to teach success mantras is an idea that occurred to Srikkanth when on a motivational lecture circuit.
"I am invited to give motivational lectures and talks on success by large companies. So, I thought that it would be better to spread this knowledge as far and as wide as possible leveraging technology," Srikkanth said at the launch of careerstrokes.com.
Tapping into his own reservoir of knowledge and experience as a successful cricketer and picking the brains of the best in various fields -business, trade, commerce, films and media - Srikkanth has concocted success mantras that aim to help youth realise their dreams.
He calls it a career enhancement programme, devised in 12 modules containing practical tips and dos and don’t’s. Coaching users of the programme on goal setting, career planning, the strong content on the e-learning platform hosted by Srikkanth aim to help youth manage stress better, improve confidence, hone communication skills and enable them to master using management principles to achieve desired objectives.

Designed as a three-month course, it would have 15 live interactive programmes with celebrities from business, sports, films and science and technology.

“We are also looking at certification from the best institutions in India and abroad."
