Australia vs South Africa 1st T20I Highlights, AUS vs SA: Australia displayed a perfect all-round performance to register a 17-run win over South Africa to go 1-0 up in the three-match series. Aiden Markram started South Africa's chase of 179 with three boundaries off the bowling of Josh Hazlewood. Tristan Stubbs and Ryan Rickelton were threatening to take the game away from Australia in the first T20I as the duo put on 72 runs for the fourth wicket but Josh Hazlewood brought all his experience into play, dismissing Stubbs for 37 and breaking the game open. The premier pacer then sent George Linde back to the hut in the same over as Australia gained firm control.
In the end, Ryan Rickelton was unable to take South Africa over the line as Australia registered a comfortable victory.
Earlier, from 75/6 to 178, Australia staged a remarkable comeback, and it was all down to Tim David's one-man show in the first T20I against South Africa in Darwin. The first six overs of the first T20I between Australia and South Africa had it all.
The visitors managed to take four wickets, but Mitchell Marsh's Australia scored 71 runs, primarily down to Cameron Green's 13-ball blitz of 35 runs. However, South Africa gained the upper hand in the next two overs as Kwena Maphaka and Senuran Muthusamy ended Mitchell Owen and Glenn Maxwell's innings.
Tim David then found support in the form of Ben Dwarshius as the duo put on 59 runs for the seventh wicket. The right-handed David scored 83 runs off 52 balls; however, he lost his wicket in the penultimate over. Australia finally posted 178 runs on the board. Kwena Maphaka was the standout performer for the Proteas as he returned with four wickets.
