The buzz that the BCCI is spearheading the campaign to dump the rotation system to appoint the ICC president is true.
"We are seeking to change the existing rotation system because we want the best available person to head the apex body. We don't want a candidate to be named through the current zonal system," said BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla.
The move is being seen by many as an attempt by the BCCI to further strengthen their stranglehold on the ICC. Ehsan Mani, former ICC president from Pakistan, hinted a few days ago that India could have initiated the move. "Sharad Pawar's term is ending next year… The question is that if India want to jump the queue," he had said.
As per the current system, it was Pakistan and Bangladesh's turn to nominate a candidate. While Bangladesh have reportedly agreed to the proposed change, the Pakistan Cricket Board has opposed the move. "We would not allow anyone to snatch the chance from us," PCB chairman Ijaz Butt said.
The opposing stand puts the BCCI and the PCB on a collision course.

If this happens, East Zone could lose their chance to nominate a candidate after N Srinivasan's term gets over in 2014.
