Troubled England vice-captain Ben Stokes was spotted smoking a cigarette with his hand still bandaged, at teammate Jason Roy’s wedding in France.

Stokes has been indefinitely suspended by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and will not be travelling with the team to Australia for the Ashes 2017-18.

According to a report in The Daily Mail, Stokes was pictured smoking a cigarette sitting pool side as he made his presence at Roy’s wedding, which was also attended by Alex Hales, Eoin Morgan, Jos Buttler, Sam Billings and England captain Joe Root.

Stokes and Hales have been suspended indefinitely after the two were involved in a fracas outside a nightclub in Bristol last month. A video clipping revealed that Stokes rained punches on a man outside the club late in the night, reportedly 15 punches in one minute.

Even though the ECB renewed the 26-year-old Stokes’ contract, it announced that he will not be travelling to Australia for the Ashes that begins on November 23 at The Gabba in Brisbane.

Pacer Steven Finn has been named as replacement for Stokes in England’s Ashes squad.

No final decision on Stokes’ immediate future has been taken by the ECB as they await the Avon and Somerset police to conclude their investigation on the matter. The police are reportedly waiting for two key witnesses to speak out.
