And with over 4000 performers — apart from 1000 technicians — the organizers of the event say that this is going to be “the biggest opening extravaganza any cricket event has ever seen”.

“The theme of the event will be showcasing Colours of India, Bangaladesh and Sri Lanka,” says Sabbas Joseph, director, Wizcraft, the organizers of the gala show. While folk dance forms like Bihu, Kashmiri, Tamil — among others — will constitute the India part, Sri Lanka’s performance will showcase the nation as the Pearl of the Indian Ocean.

The entire stadium will converted into a sea (through lazer lights),” says Joseph.

Bangladesh will showcase the Bhasha Andolan [Bengali Language Movement] of 1952.

Also, keeping in mind the sub-continental touch, the captains of all the 14 teams will arrive at the stadium on cycle-rickshaws.

Bangladesh prime minister, Sheikh Hasina, will declare the World Cup open.
