Dalmiya raised many eyebrows during Sunday’s working committee meeting where he tried to corner BCCI with a few pointed questions.

BCCI responded to Dalmiya’s query saying that all the expenses were approved by the IPL governing council.

In a detailed note, a copy of which is with Hindustan Times, the Cricket Association of Bengal chief wrote, “BCCI was entitled to (pay) Rs 10.2 crore out of which it could have paid to the two IPL teams — Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings at the most Rs 5.1 crore.”

Dalmiya pointed out that the BCCI had paid Rs 10.2 crore each to Cricket Australia and Cricket South Africa, the other stakeholders.

“However, by suppressing these facts, a sum of Rs 20.8 crore was stated to be paid directly as compensation to Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings.

Dalmiya also alleged that due to this and the payment to the franchisees through the Central Rights, the money saved should have been distributed among the BCCI’s member associations.

He wrote that while “17 non-staging members” should have been given “Rs 1.46 crore each”, “eight staging members” were entitled for “Rs 2.18 crore each”.

The BCCI’s replid saying all payments were ratified by IPL.
