The Under-19 conditioning camp organised by the DDCA is on in full swing at the Ferozeshah Kotla and already players are reaping the rewards. The 15-day camp that has been organised to prepare players for the packed cricket season ahead, is nurturing 31 players and the number would have been higher if some players were not missing through injury.

As opposed to the ‘off-season’ camps that have been organised in past, this is the first time a purely ‘conditioning camp’ has been organised to focus on the fitness of players and not their core skills.

Tejveer Singh, the fitness trainer calls it a much-awaited and desperately-needed camp. “This is indeed a commendable step taken by the DDCA. We really needed something of this sort where we can concentrate on the fitness of these kids.”

Singh, who was with the Delhi Ranji team last season, calls it a ‘pre-season conditioning camp’ and is optimistic that it will prove successful. “I am utilising my Ranji experience and I am hopeful that these players will not miss games due to fitness problems. And even they are responding well.”
