It might be a major setback for those who wanted the ouster of N Srinivasan from the in Indian cricket Board.
In a vital development for Srinivasan’s supporters, the Tamil Nadu strongman finally managed to win the support of all six state associations from South with Goa falling in line.The numbers might look ordinary to those who are unaware of BCCI’s constitution but it should virtually end any possibility of contest for the president’s post during the AGM on September 29.
The aspirant for the president’s post needs a proposer and a seconder from South Zone to force any contest given this being South Zone’s turn as per rotation policy. With four (Tamil Nadu, Hyderabad, Karnataka and Kerala) out of six units already expressing their allegiance towards Srinivasan, the anti-Srinivasan group was banking on the Goa and Andhra.
Srinivasan, at least for now, seems to have put those possibilities to bed. “I will be attending special general body meeting in Chennai on September 25 followed by the AGM. I cannot say whether I will stay in Chennai between September 25 and 29 at the moment but I can say with certainty that Goa unit is with Srinivasan,” said Vinod Phadke, chief of Goa state association.

Pleasing members
To ensure that members who are pro-Srinivasan don’t take a last-minute u-turn, the BCCI president’s plans to keep them in good spirits remain on track. Apart from a trip to a near-by national park between the April 25 and 29 meetings, there are more options planned.
HT has learnt there will be close to 100 people deployed to look after members. However, all these trips have not gone down well with certain senior members of the Board.
