The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will organise an anti-doping education programme for the physios of all Ranji Trophy teams in Mumbai on August 26.
The Indian team physio, Dr Nitin Patel, and sports medicine expert attached with the National Cricket Academy, Dr Kinjal Suratwala, will conduct the programme, a BCCI source said on Monday.
The BCCI is probably the first sports body in India to initiate an anti-doping education programme for its affiliated units. Last week, it announced it will begin the anti-doping awareness programme in the forthcoming season to create awareness among the domestic players, a feature that's already practised by Cricket Australia.
"Both Dr Patel and Dr Suratwala are aware of what is happening and are the ideal persons to conduct the programme," said the source.
It is understood that the BCCI wanted Patel to conduct the programme as he has been in touch with ICC anti-doping officer Lorinda Rugless.
