The ghastly terror attack at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand on Friday has killed more than 40 people and numerous have been injured.
The Bangladesh team had a narrow escape as they headed to the Masjid Al Noor mosque for Friday prayers just before the attack took place. The players rushed through Hagley Park to safety.
The attack led to a premature end to the Bangladesh cricket team’s tour of New Zealand. The two sides will not contest the third and final Test that was scheduled to begin on 16 March in Christchurch.

{{/usCountry}}ICC CEO Dave Richardson in a statement backed the move by the New Zealand and Bangladesh cricket boards on the move. “Our thoughts and sincere condolences go out to the families and friends of those affected by this horrendous incident in Christchurch. Both teams, staff and match officials are safe and the ICC fully supports the decision to cancel the Test match”, Richardson said.
In the wake of the attack, cricketers have taken to Twitter to condemn the atrocity and offer condolences to the victims.
